Tsantilis Art 1925, with an uninterrupted presence since 1925, presents the solo exhibition of Greek sculptor and printmaker Dimitris Tsirogiannis, entitled “Between Land, Sea and Memory.”
A contemporary visual narrative exploring Greece’s enduring relationship with land, sea and collective memory.
The exhibition presents a carefully selected body of patinated bronze sculptures, gold-plated works and lithographs, through which the artist revisits familiar images and references drawn from the Greek landscape.
In Tsirogiannis’ work, architectural form, geometric clarity and the handcrafted treatment of metal come together in a distinctly personal contemporary language. His sculptural compositions are developed through rigorous geometric forms, balances, shifts and dynamic relationships between volume and space.
At the same time, his lithographs convey the distinctive atmosphere of Greece: the Aegean Sea, Greek light, the Acropolis, Mount Lycabettus, Hydra, Mykonos and the characteristic landscape of everyday Greek life. The image of a window overlooking the Aegean, together with the recurring maritime references throughout his work, functions as a vehicle for memory and as a personal imprint of a familiar Greek world.
Tsirogiannis does not simply seek to depict the Greek landscape. He transforms familiar images into forms, surfaces and symbols, creating works in which recognisable Greek references coexist with abstraction and geometric structure.
Thus, land and sea are not merely thematic references, but become fundamental elements of a visual language that moves between memory and the present.
